Dog Control
Licensing
Dogs are not allowed to run at large in the Township of Stone Mills and the dog must be under the control of the owner at all times when in a public location. These requirements are as a result of Bylaw 2010-532 being the current bylaw which requires dogs to be licensed and restricts dogs from running at large.
Dog tags are available to be purchased commencing the first of each new year from the Municipal Office as well as various locations through-out the Township.
For further information respecting dog control please see the 2012 Dog License Notice.
For your convenience, an application form is now available online to obtain your dog tags.
Kennels
Kennels are also subject to the regulatory controls of Bylaw 2010-532, however, other controls are found in the zoning bylaw of the Township of Stone Mills.
The Zoning Bylaw defines a "Kennel" as a place or confine where five (5) or more dogs are kept, bred or raised for any reason. The zoning bylaw further imposes certain controls respecting kennels and these are listed as follows:
Kennels are a permitted use in the Prime Agricultural (PA), Rural (RU) and Restricted Industrial (M3) zones.
An application form must be completed for the operation of a kennel each year the kennel is in operation. This is necessary to ensure the continued operation of the kennel remains in compliance with Township bylaws from year to year.
For additional information respect dog control or the operation of a kennel, please contact the Township Office.
