* All waste MUST be in Township waste bags (clear/pink). Regular size bags can be purchased for $2.00 each. Larger bags for commercial use ONLY can be purchased at the Township office ONLY. For a list of places where regular township bags can be purchased click here.

** All vehicles must STOP at the gate at waste sites.  Attendants must inspect all waste entering the sites.  If recyclables are found in township identified waste bags, (pink and/or clear), attendants will refuse the waste until the recyclables are removed.

*** Waste must not be deposited at the gate or along the roadsides, Violators and trespassers will be investigated, charged and prosecuted.

**** All recyclable materials must be kept separate and deposited by residents into the proper recycle bins.  Do not contaminate bins. 

***** Household Hazardous Waste items are not accepted at any of the sites. The Township of Stone Mills will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Day every other year where these items will be accepted and disposed of properly. For more information please click here. ***NO LARGE UNRECYCLABLE, UNBAGGED WASTE ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT ANY WASTE SITE IN THE TOWNSHIP OF STONE MILLS

Newsprint & Fine Paper

Newspapers must be string tied in bundles not exceeding 40 pounds maximum. Other paper products should be placed in paper bags or tied in bundles.

All cardboard to be deposited flat and bundled/tied in manageable bundles of approximately 30 pounds. Small boxboard and corrugated items must be flat and boxed in a full and level cardboard box or paper bag. Note: Cardboard containers will not be accepted built up, all must be flat. All boxboard or product boxes are considered cardboard.

Materials NOT Accepted as Recyclable

  1. Any waxed container such as corrugated vegetable cartons, all waxed dairy product containers, any mixed product containers such as juice or dairy containers with plastic spouts., pet food bags
  2. All vinyl products including house siding, vinyl patio chairs, tables, hanging flower pots, large toys, etc. or any plastic container used for motor oil or petroleum products.  
  3. Hay bale wrap
  4. Any mixed product such as plastic/metal, plastic/cardboard, glass/plastic.
  5. #3 Plastics - usually amber plastic containers used for coffee whiteners.
  6. All Christmas wrap and paper.
  7. Styrofoam of any type including any with a recycling number
  8. Rigid plastic such as toys, water pipes, greenhouse or garden plastic, empty oil or petroleum containers, flower pots, bale wrap, or planters
  9. Large truck and tractor tires
  10. Ceramics or mirrors

*** All of the above non-recyclable items must be placed in official Township bags and land-filled

REMEMBERIT IS IMPORTANT TO RECYCLE SO OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT WE DO TODAY.      

Please also explore these Options for Recycling:

>  Used bulk oil can be returned to the business where purchased if it is in an original container.

> Small Used batteries can be returned to Radio Shack, Canadian Tire, etc.

> Large used car batteries can be taken to National or Fort Battery

> Used eye glasses can be turned in to any Lions Club for recycling/reuse

> Full/half full cans of paint can be donated to Habitat For Humanity, Reuse Store Bath Rd., Kingston

> Recycling Printer Cartridges
