The Township of Stone Mills is provided Community Protection, Safety and Enforcement policing by the Ontario Provincial Police under the local jurisdiction of the Lennox and Addington Detachment Office in Napanee. The Township is presently under a Section 5.1 Agreement for billing and services under the Police Services Act.

Locally, the Township is an active member of the Community Policing Advisory Committee represented by the Municipal Reeve and the Chief Administrative Officer. Committee information is relayed to the Township Council and monthly/quarterly activity reports are provided for their review. This Advisory Committee has administration and Council representation from all municipalities that are served by the Lennox and Addington Detachment.

Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

In accordance with Provincial Legislation, and the mandate from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, the Township of Stone Mills is a member of the Lennox and Addington Detachment Community Safety & Well-being Planning group. This group has been established to plan, engage and protect the community ranging from youth to seniors.  The committee will analyze risk, commence community engagement and create a performance management tools to measure the success of the plan against the provincial mandate.

The Lennox and Addington Detachment committee has representation from all member municipalities in the Lennox and Addington Detachment jurisdiction with a sole mandate of completing a Community Safety Well-being plan. This group will engage local services agencies and resources to ensure the community safety of the communities are both prepared and engaged for the community’s benefit.

This committee will meet on monthly/quarterly basis and within established timelines as they strive towards the January 2021 deadline for project completion.
