On May 17th, 2021 Township of Stone Mills Council extended Interim Control By-Law 2020-1026 for an additional 12 months. Therefore, the Interim Control By-Law to Prohibit Cultivation of Cannabis is in effect until July 13, 2022, unless repealed by Council at an earlier date.

The purpose of the Interim Control By-Law is to allow additional time for public consultation following the release of Health Canada’s amended Cannabis guidance on production of cannabis for medical purposes and finalize the Cannabis Production Land Use Compatibly Study in regulating the size, location and separation distances of licensed cannabis operations. As staff continue to work on the Cannabis Production Land Use Compatibly Study, public comment and input respecting future policy and regulation development is welcomed.
