Household Hazardous Waste
Our homes are filled with municipal hazardous waste or special waste (MHSW) materials that need extra care when they've reached the end of their useful lives – things like paints, solvents and batteries.
Proper Disposal
Throwing these chemicals in the garbage or pouring them down the drain can be dangerous to our families and our environment. That's why we encourage everyone to follow the "BUD" rule:
- Buy only what you need
- Use it all up
- Drop off the rest at a local drop off-site to be recycled, reprocessed or safely disposed of
Resource Productivity & Recovery Authority (RPRA)
The RPRA is an industry-funded recycling program aimed at keeping hazardous and special waste materials out of Ontario's landfills and waterways. It allows Ontarians to return designated materials to local Municipal HHW Depots, retail sites and collection events across Ontario. Visit the RPRA to find out more! Please call and confirm the acceptance of materials before delivering your item(s).
